Forsaken Prayers
2001, 5 min
Using footage and sound elements captured from throughout Africa and South Asia, this piece creates a visceral experience of the repetitive actions that fill the lives of most of the world’s people. A woman grinds the last of the family’s corn in famine ravaged Eritrea. A man in Ethiopia tills land by camel that has been ravaged by war and desertification. In Mozambique women scoop up rain water from small puddles to use as drinking water.
